New to cycling?
If you are new to cycling - or coming back to two wheels after a break - there are lots of sites to help you choose a bike and learn essential riding techniques.
Good places to start are
  • British Cycling
  • Cycling UK
  • London Cycling Campaign - London focus but good advice
  • NHS
  • TfL - very London, but some good stuff
  • The Cycling Experts (consumer site from the Association of Cycle Traders).
Better than these and a lot more practical are the bike training courses run by Kent County Council (KCC).
If you have children, have a look at the Balanceability and Bikeability sites and contact KCC's cycle training team to see if they can help organise a course in your child's school.
And, finally, don't forget to have a look at the Highway Code.
