It's situated behind the Gasometer on the Wincheap Trading Estate. Spokes believes that this should be reopened for cyclists to provide a safe route between Wincheap, the new Telephone House residential development, and the city centre. The Horses & Goats tunnel has planning application, CA//08/00261, can be viewed on Canterbury City Council's website. Crab & Winkle Way extension The proposed extension to the Crab & Winkle Way was put forward as one of the 79 Sustrans Connect2 projects. Connect2 won the people's £50 million competition, so funding is now secured. The planning meeting for this route will be held later this year. | Reculver links Extension of the Viking Coastal Trail from Reculver to Swalecliffe (this will be named the Oyster Bay Trail) and erecting a bridge over the railway to re-form regional cycle route 15. The initial stage of the Oyster Bay Trail, linking Reculver to Bishopstone, was given the go-ahead at Canterbury City Council's March 2008 planning meeting. |
