Canterbury to Chartham
Sunday 24 April
Meet Canterbury West Station, 10.30am
On the last Sunday in April (24th) there will be a 'Big Bike Ride' from Betteshanger Country Park, along pleasant routes for 50km or 100km, and offering a change to raise sponsorship for Ukrainian refugees.
For people who don't want to ride that far, or even on minor roads, Spokes will offer a much shorter almost entirely off-road alternative along the Great Stour Way from Canterbury to the Artichoke in Chartham for a pub meal! The route is approx 3 miles each way from Toddlers Cove, with a little bit extra starting from Canterbury West Station and returning there - this bit is on minor roads. The route is essentially flat.
We will meet at the usual time at Canterbury West Station, 10.30am, then ride to Toddlers Cove to meet anyone who prefers to start there around 10.45am, and to pick up trikes and other adapted cycles for people joining us who wish to use different cycles. KCC Highways have been repairing the gravel part of the path so the ride should not be through lots of muddy puddles!
If you plan to come, please let ride leader Beatrice know so we can tell the pub - email beatrice email@example.com or text 07484 863554 preferably before 23 April (and after Easter).
We are hoping to hold our AGM - using Zoom - in April 2022. Details will be sent to members as soon as we have finalised the details.
As a nation, we outsource carbon emissions to other countries through the huge amounts of food, clothes and gadgets we import from around the world. Right now the UK has no target to cut these outsourced carbon emissions – despite the fact that they account for just under half of our carbon footprint.
Traidcraft Exchange have set up a petition calling for an end to this carbon cop out - it will take about two minutes to complete.
If you support our objectives, why not join us?
