Proposed cycle path in Dover

Kent County Council have just opened a consultation to propose upgrading a footpath in northern Dover to allow cycling. The proposal will benefit a number of schools and provide a convenient and largely traffic-free link between Whitfield and Dover town centre.
Please write in support of this proposal. The consultation closes on 27 April 2012.

On Sunday 25th and Tuesday 27th April Spokes lead a group of over 20 French schoolchildren and their teachers on a cycle ride along National Cycle Route 1 from Dover, via Sandwich to Canterbury, then Regional Cycle Route 16 back to Dover again. Much fun was had by everyone.
It appears that B&Q in Dover are attempting to compete with Canterbury’s Whitefriars shopping centre for the worst cycle parking in east Kent. B&Q’s cycle parking, pictured, is left completely inaccessible due to the large number of trolleys stored there.
Kent County Council and Kent Highway Services are currently consulting on a proposed cycle route that roughly follows the river Dour in Dover. Plans for phase 1 of this route are now available online to view. We encourage you to write in support of these plans. Click here for more details on the
